Do you want to learn to be your child’s best advocate? Come to the COPAA conference in March 2024!

The Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) is a national organization that provides phenomenal training to parents, attorneys, and advocates from some of the best of the best presenters in the country!

This year’s conference is in Atlanta and takes place March 7-10, 2024. Note that Delta offers non-stop flights to Atlanta from Bradley International Airport. . .

Registration information is here.

I attended my first COPAA conference as a parent about 20 years ago and learned WHY my IEP meetings were so frustrating and HOW to effectively communicate in special-ed-ese.

For parents interested in attending, remember that “parent training” can be added as a related service on the IEP. So you may want to request that your district fund your attendance at the conference as a related service–to enable you to learn to effectively participate as an equal member of your child’s PPT.

And for low-income families, you may also want to consider applying for a Beth Goodman scholarship to help defray expenses. Scholarship information is here.

I hope to see you there!
